The search for Canada's next Olympic heroes has officially begun at the community level. Today, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) proudly launched the 'Road to LA' grassroots initiative, a nationwide scouting and development program designed to identify and nurture young athletic talent in every province and territory across the country.

To explain it simply, "grassroots" sports refer to the foundational, local level of athletic participation—think community centers, local school gyms, and neighborhood sports clubs. The 'Road to LA' program will send specialized coaching caravans and testing equipment to these local hubs to measure the speed, strength, and agility of everyday kids. If a young athlete shows exceptional physical traits, they will be invited to join a specialized regional training academy, completely free of charge.

This inclusive approach ensures that financial barriers do not prevent a future Olympian from reaching their potential. By casting the widest possible net from coast to coast, the COC is not only aiming to build a massive medal-contending team for 2028 but also promoting lifelong health, fitness, and community spirit among Canadian youth.
