NEW YORK — Streetwear label Denim Tears is dedicating its Fall/Winter 2026 season to a towering, indelible figure of Black fashion: André Leon Talley. Launching Aug. 14 in collaboration with the André Leon Talley estate, the 153-piece collection marks the first apparel collaboration ever authorized by the estate of the late Vogue editor-at-large.

Talley, the first Black male creative director at American Vogue, was as celebrated for his flamboyant personal style as for his tireless advocacy. Denim Tears notes that Talley used his platform to champion Black designers—Phat Farm, Billionaire Boys Club, Dapper Dan—showing up front row and wearing their creations at a time when the wider fashion world would not.

“The Fall/Winter is an exploration of a specific part of André Leon Talley’s style that had social implications within and beyond fashion,” said Denim Tears founder Tremaine Emory. “André was the first in fashion to herald Black fashion designers… showing up front row at shows and wearing their clothes at a time when no one else did in the fashion world.”

A Wardrobe of Memory

The collection’s pieces reference items Talley actually wore, including a custom NAACP T-shirt bedazzled with his name across the front—Denim Tears has licensed the NAACP mark to replicate it—alongside a beanie, a monogram towel, a two-tone button-down shirt, track pants and a trench coat. Emory described the lineup as a study in the mix of diaspora clothing, Black designers and traditional fashion that Talley combined effortlessly.

“In the period from the 90’s till his death he always looked chic, luxurious, cool, comfortable, sporty and unmistakably Black,” Emory added. The estate echoed the sentiment, calling the partnership a way to ensure Talley’s legacy continues to inspire future generations. The Fall/Winter 2026 collection will be released across five drops throughout the season.
