With summer wrapping up and heading into fall, Pinterest has unveiled its top trends for the autumn 2026 season, analyzing internal global search data from June 2025 versus June 2026. The social media and visualization platform has seen a surge in searches for the fall, with users actively seeking upcoming fashion trends and lifestyle inspirations.

Japan and Japanese-inspired fashion, art, interior design, and other cultural elements associated with the country have seen a significant uptick in searches. This surge aligns with the continued boom in global travel to Japan. Searches for "Japan autumn fashion" rose by 140 percent, and "Japanese living room design" increased by 135 percent, reflecting a deep consumer desire to incorporate these aesthetics into their daily lives.

Nature-Inspired Patterns and Sporty Layering

Nature-inspired patterns, mixed-proportion layering, and bold prints are set to be the fall 2026 season’s major focal points. Searches for "leopard print" surged by an astonishing 2,990 percent, while "camouflage" increased by 2,295 percent. Additionally, the growing interest in sports has continued to skyrocket, influencing fashion choices significantly. Searches for "jersey with skirt outfit" have increased by 2,000 percent, showcasing a blend of athletic wear and traditional feminine silhouettes.

Lobster jumpers have also seen a 55 percent Pinterest search increase since June 2025. The likes of Bode, Dries van Noten, and Thom Browne have all presented iterations of this quirky motif on the runway in recent years. Most notably, the lobster is intrinsically linked with Schiaparelli, and the association with the crustacean continues to influence fashion today, echoing Elsa Schiaparelli’s iconic 1937 lobster dinner dress designed in conjunction with Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí.

Beauty and Decor: The Japanese Aesthetic Influence

When it comes to beauty, embellished nail designs are taking center stage. Searches for "bow nails" have skyrocketed by 2,200 percent, while "Japanese-inspired nail art" increased by 600 percent. The resurgence of fringes is also on Pinterest users’ radar. Another major trend includes full, glowing makeup looks. Dewy styles are bigger than ever, with search terms like "soft baddie makeup" rising 700 percent and "cool tone makeup looks" increasing by 360 percent.

Meanwhile, home decor trends are being heavily dictated by user interest in Japanese culture. Users are actively searching for "Japanese vintage art" (up 270 percent), "Japanese futon bedroom" (up 245 percent), "zen bathroom" (up 200 percent), and "Japanese zen garden" (up 120 percent).
