Harlem's POPSICLE Streetwear Fashion Show Celebrates Black Designers on August 1, 2026

In a monumental celebration of Black creativity and innovation, Harlem is set to host the POPSICLE Streetwear Fashion Show on August 1, 2026, transforming Jackie Robinson Park into an outdoor runway showcasing the work of 10 Black fashion designers.
The groundbreaking event, scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM with fashion shows commencing at 6:00 PM, represents more than a traditional fashion showcase—it positions itself as a community-centered marketplace and cultural gathering designed to provide access to fashion events that Harlem residents are typically excluded from.
A Platform for Excluded Voices
The event's organizers emphasize that Black fashion designers have long been excluded from mainstream fashion narratives and the places where accreditation of style, innovation, and creativity should be forthcoming. POPSICLE aims to remedy this historical exclusion by creating direct connections between designers and consumers.
More than 35 HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) student models will showcase the work of these designers, while the event also features a Wall of Art highlighting visual artists and an Air Force 1 footwear customization experience, creating a multifaceted celebration of Black culture.
Official Event Coverage
Amsterdam News Official Report:
On Saturday, Aug. 1, the Popsicle Streetwear Fashion Show is set to turn Jackie Robinson Park into a runway for 10 Black U.S. fashion designers, with their work adorned by more than 35 HBCU student models. The day-long celebration of Black style and culture will include artisans and community vendors.
Boutique Boulevard and Artisan's Alley
Attendees will have the opportunity to shop from Black-owned boutiques and artisan vendors through designated shopping areas including Boutique BLVD and Artisan's Alley. This mercantile aspect allows patrons to purchase pieces featured in the shows and explore handcrafted goods, bridging the gap between runway presentation and consumer access.
The culinary experience will feature pan-fried delicacies by Charles, mocktail beverages from Uncle Waithley's and Dontress Delights, along with additional food and merchandise vendors. Music will be provided by DJ Zappa and other live performers, creating the electric community vibe the event is known for.
Part of Harlem Week 2026
The POPSICLE show is a cornerstone event of Harlem Week 2026, which runs from August 1-16. The fashion celebration continues on August 15 as part of the Summer in the City celebration on West 135th Street, where brands including INDEO, Trucking Fly, and Mugzy McFly will display their collections during the Fashion Flava portion of the day.
Harlem Week was established more than five decades ago with a mission to elevate Harlem as a "global center of culture, commerce, and community" while generating sustained economic impact, creative excellence, and intergenerational opportunity. The streetwear showcase reflects a growing movement to expand opportunities for Black designers who continue to shape trends in streetwear, luxury fashion, and contemporary design despite facing inequitable access to buyers, retailers, media exposure, and major fashion platforms.
Organizers anticipate approximately 1,000 attendees at the free public event, which promises to bring fashion, commerce, education, and community engagement to the heart of Harlem, celebrating the legacy of Black arts, culture, and entrepreneurship that has defined this iconic neighborhood for generations.
