In a landmark clinical paradigm, patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center have experienced complete tumour disappearance following targeted infusions of immune checkpoint inhibitors like dostarlimab. This efficacious treatment bolsters the body’s natural defences, unmasking cancerous cells that previously evaded detection by flipping the immune system's built-in "off" switch.

Overcoming Refractory Solid Tumours

Historically, immunotherapy triumphs were largely confined to blood cancers via CAR T-cell therapies. Solid tumours, which constitute over 90% of new diagnoses, have proven recalcitrant to these interventions. However, recent trials focusing on tumours with specific genetic profiles have yielded astonishing results. In sequential studies, 84 out of 103 participants with rectal and oesophageal cancers saw their malignancies vanish entirely, bypassing invasive surgical procedures altogether.
