Zegna Sales Surge 17% in Q2 2026, Defying Luxury Sector Headwinds With Retail-First Strategy

In a noteworthy demonstration of resilience amid the luxury sector's prolonged challenges, the Ermenegildo Zegna Group reported robust second-quarter results, with the flagship Zegna brand delivering a 17 percent sales surge that has outperformed industry analysts' forecasts.
"I call this the reward of patience," declared Gildo Zegna, executive chairman of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, in a statement that encapsulated the company's long-term strategic vision. "We are reaping the fruits of years of investments in products, strategies, governance, research and development, and even the ability to sometimes say 'no'."
Quarterly Performance Exceeds Forecasts
Group revenues climbed 10.3 percent to €517.1 million in the second quarter of 2026, beating the consensus forecast of €496 million. For the first half of 2026, total revenues reached €987.3 million, representing a 6.4 percent year-over-year increase and a 9.3 percent organic growth compared to €927.7 million in the same period of 2025.
The Zegna brand emerged as the primary growth catalyst, with sales surging 16.9 percent to €324.3 million in the second quarter, propelled by exceptional direct-to-consumer channel performance across all geographical regions.
Brand Portfolio Demonstrates Strength
Beyond the flagship Zegna label, the group's diversified portfolio exhibited promising momentum. Thom Browne revenues remained stable at €64.9 million, though organic growth reached 2.7 percent as the brand continues its strategic wholesale channel rationalization. Tom Ford Fashion posted a 4.5 percent increase to €89.1 million, with organic growth of 7.1 percent, reflecting the acclaim for Haider Ackermann's spring collection.
Direct-to-Consumer Strategy Pays Dividends
The group's strategic pivot toward a retail-first business model yielded remarkable returns, with the direct-to-consumer channel expanding 16.4 percent to €410.9 million in the second quarter. All three brands delivered double-digit growth, affirming the group's decision to prioritize direct customer engagement over wholesale partnerships.
Geographical Expansion Shows Balanced Growth
The Americas emerged as the dominant growth engine, with sales surging 20 percent to €165.3 million, driven by double-digit DTC growth across all brands. The Greater China region demonstrated resilience, posting revenues of €112 million, up 12.2 percent, with accelerating momentum compared to the first quarter.
The EMEA region recorded €177.1 million in revenues, up 1.3 percent, with robust DTC growth partially offset by wholesale channel challenges. The rest of Asia-Pacific registered sales of €62.1 million, up 11.5 percent, with organic growth of 19.3 percent driven by strong performances in Korea and Japan.
"We are aware we are underrepresented in APAC and we are working to improve," noted CEO Gianluca Tagliabue. "We see good momentum in Korea, where local demand remains strong, and Japan is improving with locals and tourists."
