During a candid appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the 58-year-old actress revealed her most profound professional regret: walking away from the lead role in the supernatural juggernaut, Ghost.

The role of bereaved artist Molly Jensen ultimately fell to Demi Moore, launching Moore into the stratosphere and cementing her as one of the industry's most bankable stars. But it was Ringwald who was offered the script first, fresh off her defining turns in The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink.

A cinematic trajectory forever altered

When pressed by Cohen to name the single project she still rues passing on, Ringwald did not hesitate. "Um, Ghost," she confessed, before quickly pivoting to praise her eventual replacement. "But Demi is great in it. So good for Demi. She did a great job."
