One year after making the leap into fragrance with its first Eau de Parfum, Rare Beauty is back with a second scent. Described by the brand as "bright, blooming, and full of possibility," Rare Beginnings Eau de Parfum is a fruity floral that "starts fresh and radiant before softening into sweet and lasting warmth"—and early access launched on Thursday, August 6 via the Sephora app.

The Inspiration

As its name hints, this fragrance was inspired by "the spirit of new beginnings." The scent arrives alongside two new layering balms, continuing the brand's tradition of offering customizable fragrance experiences.

“I try to look at each day—each moment—as a new opportunity,” shared brand founder Selena Gomez in a press release announcing the fragrance. “There’s always something beautiful ahead. I wanted this fragrance to capture that feeling of possibility, so bright and sweet.”

The Scent Profile

Tinted a fresh, green shade that really says grow, the fragrance opens brightly with top notes of pear nectar and pistachio before blooming into a heart of gardenia, jasmine, and lotus blossom. It then settles into its base notes of warm vanilla bean, pink sugar, and cedarwood—designed to stay on the skin for up to 12 hours.

The Layering Balms

Though Rare Beginnings can certainly be worn on its own, the brand is releasing two new layering balms to complement the perfume: Fruity Pear to add a "fresh, juicy layer," and Sweet Marshmallow to add a "creamy, alluring layer."

“These layering balms are all about making fragrance fun and personal. I love pairing them with our Eau de Parfums to match whatever mood I’m in. It completely transforms the way the scent wears and adds dimension in a subtle way,” Gomez noted.
