Her April 21 wedding at The Cape, a luxury hotel overlooking the Mexican coastline, has amassed over 11 million views on TikTok after a clip revealed that her pristine white-and-green altar arrangements were heavily padded with literal heads of cauliflower and leafy cabbage.

“The second I got to the altar, I looked over at my husband and whispered, ‘Wait… is that cauliflower?’” Amoroso recalled. “We looked at each other and immediately started giggling.”

The Anatomy of a Floral Subterfuge

The subterfuge was born not out of malice, but necessity. In the final stretch of wedding planning, Amoroso faced the dreaded decision fatigue and tasked her wedding planner, Creative Destination Events, with reducing the cost of the florals without sacrificing the overall vision of texture and fullness.

The planner’s solution? A trip to the produce aisle. By incorporating dense, cheap vegetables like cauliflower and cabbage, the team could achieve the illusion of massive, expensive blooms for a fraction of the cost. Amoroso had actually signed off on a digital rendering that included the vegetables, but in her planning haze, she assumed “cabbage” was simply the name of an obscure, exotic flower she had never heard of.

“I remember pausing for a second but genuinely assuming ‘cabbage’ was just the name of a flower I’d never heard of before, so I didn’t question it,” she admitted to PEOPLE. Even while admiring the setup from her balcony on the morning of the wedding, the dense greenery masked the truth until she was standing directly in front of it, ready to exchange vows.

When Amoroso posted the realization to TikTok on July 24, the internet immediately devoured the story. While some commenters playfully teased the couple—with one user writing, “Ma’am, that is a whole salad,” and another asking, “Was your florist a rabbit by chance?”—the overwhelming consensus was one of admiration for the clever budget hack.

Amoroso herself has fully embraced the moment, noting that the produce ended up being one of her favorite details because it served as an incredible conversation starter.
